Rhinoplasty in Serbia: Pricing, Recovery, and What Actually Changes

Serbia has become one of Europe's most sought-after destinations for rhinoplasty. Here is what you need to know about costs, recovery time, and finding the right surgeon.

Rhinoplasty is consistently one of the top five plastic surgery procedures searched by medical tourists. Serbia — and Belgrade specifically — has developed a strong reputation in this area, driven by a generation of surgeons who trained in France, Germany, and the United States and returned to practice at home.

What Does Rhinoplasty Cost in Serbia?

The price range for rhinoplasty in Serbia is approximately €2,500 – €4,500, depending on the complexity of the procedure and the specific surgeon. This compares to €6,000 – €12,000 in Germany, €5,000 – €10,000 in the United Kingdom, and €8,000 – €15,000 in the United States.

The cost difference reflects lower overheads and operating costs in Serbia, not a difference in surgical technique or implant material. General anaesthesia, OR time, and anaesthesiologist fees are all included in the Serbian price.

Types of Rhinoplasty Available in Belgrade

  • Primary rhinoplasty (first-time nose reshaping, functional or cosmetic)
  • Revision rhinoplasty (correction of a previous procedure)
  • Septoplasty (correction of a deviated septum for functional breathing)
  • Combined septorhinoplasty (both cosmetic and functional correction)
  • Tip refinement (targeted reshaping of nasal tip only)

What Does Recovery Look Like?

The first week after rhinoplasty involves a splint on the nose, swelling, and bruising — especially around the eyes. Most patients find this manageable. By day 7–10, the splint is typically removed and the majority of visible bruising has faded. Patients are generally comfortable appearing in public by days 10–14.

Full recovery — meaning final swelling has completely resolved and the result is fully visible — takes 6 to 12 months. The subtle reshaping that gives rhinoplasty its final result continues for up to a year after surgery.

Planning Your Belgrade Stay Around Rhinoplasty

Most patients plan a 7–10 day stay in Belgrade. The first two days are for consultation and pre-operative assessment. Surgery takes place on day three. Days four through ten are recovery, with the splint removal and follow-up appointment usually scheduled for day seven or eight.

Belgrade's city centre is flat, walkable, and full of good cafés and restaurants — well-suited to a quiet recovery week. Light walking from day three or four is generally encouraged. High-impact activity, sun exposure on the nose, and alcohol should be avoided for the first three to four weeks.

How to Choose the Right Surgeon

This is the most important decision you will make. Look for a surgeon who is board-certified in plastic or maxillofacial surgery, who has a visible portfolio of rhinoplasty results, and who insists on a thorough consultation before accepting you as a patient. Any surgeon who offers to perform surgery without a prior consultation — in person or via video call — should be treated as a red flag.

Ask specifically about their revision rate, what happens if you are not satisfied with the result, and how follow-up is handled once you return home.
